The Department of Tourism and Marketing has been active at the Institute of Technology and Business in České Budějovice since 2014. The group currently involves Regional Development Tourism and Marketing. Our teaching strategy and research activities reflect the needs of prospective employers and the long-term aim of the Institute.
The Group of Regional Development and Tourism teaches and researches issues of stability and development of small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas, strategic development of tourism in regional units and destination management, parties involved in planning regional development and their synergy in planning territorial development and corporate mobility. Our theoretical research aims to explore the commercial potential of the regions, including various research projects and grants. We extend our teaching and research activities by cooperating with state and public administration bodies, regional developers and business practices primarily from South Bohemian Region.
The Marketing Group teaches and researches issues of marketing and commercial activities. We also explore the region-based potential of marketing communication management in forging and protecting online identity and reputation, seeking to implement e-marketing communication tools in the promotional mix of Czech market companies. Our theoretical research frames the concept of the potential of marketing communication management in forging and protecting online identity and reputation, bringing the topic closer to the priorities of European funding programmes. Our findings help locate faults in using e-marketing tools in the promotional mix of Czech market enterprises to apply e-marketing innovation tools to business practices.
Our lessons combine theory and practice when addressing practical problems, case studies, student projects etc., closely cooperating with industry. Bachelor theses target specific commercial and non-commercial subjects, connecting research findings with the specific needs of companies that expand beyond the Czech Republic. Our department uses modern teaching methods involving professional experts who contribute to high-quality education and support graduates’ specializations. Students complete a 520-hour compulsory internship in major South Bohemian companies and institutes.
Our department also offers students mobilities, including the International Business Week and Erasmus+, to apply their marketing, communication, and management knowledge. The students will benefit from improving their team, communication, presentation and language skills.
We also engage in various research and project activities, including grants from the Regional Authority of South Bohemia and projects of the EU funding programmes.
We aim to provide quality education and research activities in our professional specializations.
