Regional Development and Tourism group

Regional development and tourism group deals with research and teaching activities related to the issue of stabilization and development of small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas, strategic development of territorial units with a focus on tourism and destination management, the role of actors operating in territorial units (enterprises, municipalities, social organizations, and citizens) and their synergistic influence in planning the development and follow-up development activities, as well as the issue of corporate (company) mobility in the context of addressing transport policy in the relation municipality-economic entities, with the aim of increasing sustainability of corporate or urban mobility.

As for theoretical research, the group´s activities are focused on determining the entrepreneurial potential of given territories. The members of the group have been researchers or co-researchers in many research projects and grants, such as projects implemented under the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (ÉTA programme) “Stabilization and development of SMEs in rural areas”, “Digital transformation for innovations of business models in small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech Republic”, and “SME restart: Specification of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on SMEs and identification of factors of successful response to the crisis situation and definition of development scenarios according to the typology of impacts and categories of SMEs”. Within teaching and creative activities, the group has established long-term cooperation with state and public administration bodies, regional development actors, and companies mainly from the South Bohemian region.

  • TA CR Transport 2022+:
    Methodology for corporate and school mobility plans CK03000135. The goal of the project is to develop certified methodologies for business and school mobility plans that could be implemented in the processes of developing plans for Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMP). Those methodologies would become a practical guide for dealing with one of the most limiting issues for the development of sustainability of urban agglomerations which corporate and school mobility undeniably is. The implementation of the project should include the projection of direct analytical tools implemented in the methodologies, which could be used by the target groups to address transport policy in the municipality-school and municipality-business entities relationship, with the aim of increasing sustainability in urban mobility. The proposed methodologies will emphasize the socio-economic, urban, environmental, and other factors providing a realistic platform for sustainable urban development.

  • Entrepreneurial potential in regions with various degree of exploitation and environmental protection of the entrepreneurial potential of a territory with sectoral differentiation and intensity of exploitation
    The objective of the project is to propose a procedure for determining the potential of selected territorial units in the Czech Republic differentiated according to the degree and intensity of economic potential and the degree of environmental protection. In accordance with the outputs of the project, a sub-objective in the form of a new methodology will be proposed, including a generally valid procedure for the territory under review, with the specification of sub-methodologies according to the characteristics of given territories. One of the outputs will be software with a corresponding manual containing both the calculation process and the interpretation of the outputs for user practice.
